About Me

Kacy Mathis, Licensed Professional Counselor Associate

Under supervision of Supervised by Kristin Walker, LPC-S

Serving Anahuac, Beach City, Baytown, Mont Belvieu, Liberty, Crosby, Dayton, and surrounding Texas communities, in person and online. If we were sitting together in my office, you’d probably notice pretty quickly that I’m not a “sit
back and nod silently” kind of therapist. I’m engaged, relational, and deeply invested in helping the people in front of me feel truly understood. Before becoming a counselor, I spent many years in public education from the classroom to Special Education to behavioral intervention programs. I worked closely with children and teens navigating big emotions, learning differences, trauma, anxiety, defiance, perfectionism, and self- doubt. That experience shaped how I see behavior today: not as something to control, but as something to understand.
I’ve always been drawn to kids and teens because I see how much they carry that adults often miss. Sometimes the loudest behavior is covering the deepest hurt. Sometimes the quietest teen is carrying the heaviest thoughts. When young people feel safe enough to be known, growth happens naturally. While children and teens are a big part of my heart, so are individual adults, couples, and
families who feel stuck, disconnected, or overwhelmed. Many adults come into counseling feeling burned out, anxious, or unsure of who they are in the middle of life’s responsibilities. I offer a grounded space to slow down, make sense of what’s happening internally, and build practical tools for moving forward with clarity and confidence. Outside of counseling, I’m a wife, mom and stepmom to four teenagers, which has given me both professional and personal insight into blended family dynamics. I understand how complex family systems can be, the loyalty binds, the boundary confusion, the stress of trying to do it right. That lived experience informs the empathy I bring into sessions.

With couples, I focus on the emotional patterns underneath conflict. So often, arguments aren’t about the surface issue, they’re about unmet needs, fear, or feeling unseen. I help partners move from blame and defensiveness toward understanding, emotional safety, and reconnection. In family sessions, I look at the whole system. Families don’t struggle because one person is “the problem.” Patterns develop over time, and together we work to shift those patterns toward healthier communication, stronger boundaries, and deeper connection. I have a deep heart for individuals who feel overwhelmed, stretched thin, or quietly struggling beneath the surface. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, burnout, relationship stress, identityshifts, self-esteem challenges, perfectionism, grief, teacher burnout, or a major life transition, I understand how heavy it can feel to carry everything alone. Many of the adults I work with are high-functioning on the outside but exhausted on the inside, constantly giving, rarely slowing down, and unsure how to reconnect with themselves. In our work together, we create space to pause, untangle the pressure, and make sense of what your mind and body have been holding. Iincorporate mindfulness, nervous system awareness, and practical tools to help you move from survival mode toward steadiness, clarity, and self-compassion. You don’t have to have it all figured out, you just have to be willing to begin.I have a special heart for those walking through grief and life transitions. Loss changes us, sometimes suddenly and in ways we never expected. After losing my brother unexpectedly, grief became deeply personal for me, and it ultimately led me to pursue specialized training in the Neuroscience of Grief. I understand both professionally and personally how disorienting loss can feel, how it affects not only emotions, but the brain, the body, and our sense of identity. Healingdoesn’t mean rushing past the pain or “moving on.” It means learning how to carry the loss differently, with compassion, support, and space to process at your own pace. My work is grounded in compassion, emotional safety, and practical tools. I care deeply about helping people not just manage symptoms, but understand themselves at a deeper level. Growth isn’t about perfection, it’s about awareness, courage, and small consistent steps forward. When I’m not in session, you’ll likely find me spending time with family, creating something artistic, or finding ways to bring beauty and intention into everyday life. I believe small things matter in homes, in relationships, and in healing. If you’re here, something may feel heavy or stuck. You don’t have to navigate that alone. I would be honored to walk alongside you.

Our Mission

My mission is to help families grow stronger at the core, creating emotional safety, steady connection, and practical tools that support lasting change. I walk alongside children, teens, adults, couples, and families as they navigate anxiety, grief, conflict, and life transitions with compassion and clarity. I believe no one is “the problem”; meaningful growth begins when we slow down, understand what’s underneath the behavior or tension, and rebuild connection from there. Healing happens in relationship, and every person deserves to feel seen, supported, and equipped to move forward with confidence. Change Together
