FAQS

How do I know if my child needs counseling?

If your child is experiencing increased anxiety, emotional outbursts, behavior changes, withdrawal, school stress, or difficulty regulating big feelings, counseling can help. You don’t have to wait until things feel severe, early support often leads to stronger long-term outcomes.

What if my child doesn’t want to talk in therapy?

That’s completely normal. Children often communicate through play, creativity, or behavior before they use words. I use developmentally appropriate, relationship-based approaches to help children feel safe enough to open up at their own pace.

How involved will I be in my child’s therapy?

Parents are an important part of the process. While sessions focus on your child, I provide regular parent check-ins, guidance, and practical tools so you feel supported at home. Therapy works best when we partner together.

How does confidentiality work with teens?

Teens need privacy to build trust in counseling. I provide space for them to speak openly while keeping parents appropriately involved through check-ins and collaboration. If there are safety concerns, those are always addressed promptly and clearly.

What if my teen doesn’t want to come to therapy?

It’s common for teens to feel unsure at first. I focus on building trust and creating a space where they feel respected rather than pressured. Once teens feel heard instead of “fixed,” resistance often decreases naturally.

What can we expect in couples counseling?

Couples counseling focuses on understanding the emotional patterns underneath conflict. We work on slowing reactive cycles, improving communication, and rebuilding emotional safety, rather than assigning blame or taking sides.

How is family counseling different from individual therapy?

Family therapy looks at the system as a whole. Instead of focusing on one person, we work to shift communication patterns, boundaries, and emotional responses within the family dynamic.

I’m high-functioning, is therapy still for me?

Yes. Many of the adults I work with are capable and successful but feel internally overwhelmed, anxious, burned out, or disconnected. Therapy isn’t only for crisis, it’s for clarity and growth.

Do you offer support for grief and loss?

Yes. I have specialized training in the Neuroscience of Grief and support children, teens, and adults navigating the emotional and physical impact of loss. Grief doesn’t have a timeline, therapy provides space to process it with compassion.

What types of issues do you help adults with?

I work with adults experiencing anxiety, burnout, perfectionism, relationship stress, identity shifts, and major life transitions. Therapy offers a steady space to untangle what feels overwhelming and build practical coping tools.

How long does counseling typically last?

The length of therapy depends on your goals and the concerns you’re addressing. Some clients benefit from short-term, focused work, while others prefer longer-term support. We collaborate to determine what feels most helpful.

Do you offer in-person and online sessions?

Yes. I provide in-person counseling in Baytown, TX and surrounding areas, as well as online therapy across Texas for added flexibility and accessibility.

How do I get started?

The first step is simply reaching out through the contact form, email, or phone. From there, we can answer your questions, discuss what’s been going on, and decide whether you’d like to schedule your first session. I also offer a brief consultation call if you’d like to connect before committing.
